Book Harvest is a nonprofit organization based in Durham that is committed to ensuring every child has an abundance of books, every parent has the support they need to be their child’s first and best teacher, and every community has a thriving culture of literacy. The organization is a part of NC’s Campaign for Grade-Level Reading, which is dedicated to supporting children’s health and well-being to be on track to read on grade level by the end of third grade. Book Harvest has two job openings, including a search for a new Executive Director and a full-time Family Partnerships Manager.
The Executive Director will be responsible for the consistent and effective execution of the organization’s programmatic work in Durham which includes providing books to children and literacy support to families starting at birth and building a community-wide culture of literacy. The starting salary for this position is $90,000 dollars and benefits include 100 percent employer-sponsored health care plan, three percent employer contribution to a retirement plan, paid time off and sick time, paid holidays, professional development funds, and voluntary participation in dental and vision plans. The Family Partnerships Manager will be responsible for growing the network of parent leaders who are champions for early literacy; organizing parent-focused training and workshops; strengthening and growing partnerships with local, parent-centered organizations; and managing public programming for parents and children.
