Since 1974, DHIC has demonstrated the importance of connecting people with safe, affordable, and desirable homes in the Triangle region of North Carolina. DHIC provides homebuyer support and develops rental communities for families and individuals with limited incomes. We understand that a home is a catalyst for opportunity, independence, and resilience. We envision a housing ecosystem that provides and promotes equity, generational wealth, health and wellness for the communities in which we work.

Therefore, the plan integrates more fully DHIC’s award-winning housing production and operating work with a sharpened focus on supporting residents and building holistic thriving communities.

  • For over 40 years, DHIC has served in a leadership role to foster housing opportunities in the Triangle region. As one of the country’s most experienced non-profit housing development organizations, DHIC strengthens our community by offering families and seniors with limited incomes the opportunity for high-quality rental housing and homeownership. When combined with our housing support and counseling services, the impact of DHIC enables thousands of individuals and families to improve their economic well-being by way of stable housing.
