Racial Equity Lens
  • To ensure and reinforce racial equity and justice in the future through the development and make-up of The P.L.A.C.E., it is required that 50% of its council must be from underrepresented communities (e.g., LGBQT+, Latino/a, Hispanic, Asian, Black, Physical/Learning Differences, Visually/Speech Impaired, ESL, ASL, rural, etc.) and that 50% of focus areas for council advocacy and agenda are of issues, concerns, or areas of focus for parents/families from underserved populations (i.e., medically fragile, learning differences, etc.).
  • As part of the council, annual diversity trainings and/or workshop attendance is a requirement to ensure continuing education, growth, and development to encourage, support, and/or reinforce racial equity and justice in parent leadership and subsequently community leadership at the grassroots level.

Council members are invited to attend agency wide meetings and other leadership opportunities in the community as representatives of the agency.
