Children’s Social-Emotional Health Data Workgroup-Meeting 2
The data workgroup is recommending a measure or portfolio of measures to capture capture young children’s social-emotional health and development at the population level. At the second meeting, workgroup members:
- Participated in a racial equity workshop to develop a shared framework for understanding structural racism and connect the equity frame explicitly to the goals of the workgroup.
- Reviewed learnings from Child Trends Memo.
- Considered potential tools/measures in three areas: 1) Screens/assessments, 2) Proxy measures, and 3) Population-level surveys.
- Learned more about NC’s current use of the Early Childhood Outcome System and Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment data to measure children’s social-emotional health.
- Reviewed commonly used tools in NC by sector and characteristics for prioritizing measures.
- Discussed the use of screens/assessments and proxy measures (process and outcome) in small groups.
- Identified additional needs and resources for Meeting #3.
