Voiced by Amazon Polly

The North Carolina Early Childhood Foundation proudly announces that Theresa Roedersheimer, a longtime advocate for our state’s young children and families, will become our next Executive Director. Her first day will be May 20, 2024.

Theresa will bring her 20 years of experience in North Carolina’s early childhood system to grow the impact and reach of our mission to support thriving young children & families. Her depth of knowledge of early childhood policy will be an incredible asset to the organization. As a leader, she will bring a passion for problem-solving and making sure teammates, partners, and stakeholders are valued.

In her previous role, Theresa served as the Senior Early Childhood Policy Advisor for the NC Division of Early Childhood and Early Education, where she led the policy, data, and communication team. She serves as a board member for the North Carolina Association for the Education of Young Children, and is on the Leadership Team for Think Babies NC. She also contributes to multiple early education-related committees.

A native of Onslow County, NC, Theresa recently received an Education Specialists (Ed.S.) degree and has a master’s degree in Education. She is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of North Carolina’s child care workforce, children, and families. Her particular interest is in early education policy reform.

NCECF’s Chair of the Board of Directors, Dr. Marian Earls, shared that: “Theresa is a consensus-builder with tremendous skill in engaging people across different sectors, backgrounds, and viewpoints. She knows how to work through differences to find common ground and to move initiatives forward that promote the health and well-being of our young children and their families. We are so lucky to have her joining our team.”

The NCECF team thanks Fawn Pattison for her leadership as Interim Executive Director. Her dedicated service and steadfast leadership were invaluable, and we are immensely grateful for her guidance and commitment.

Theresa is mom to an 8-year-old daughter. While not at work ensuring kids are on track to lifelong success, she enjoys hiking, traveling, and baking – and she is also a trained pastry chef!

NCECF will host a meet-and-greet event this summer once Theresa is settled into her new role. Partners and supporters are welcome to connect with Theresa on LinkedIn or email her at theresa@buildthefoundation.org after May 20.

The Executive search was carried out by Elinvar of Winston-Salem, NC. The Board of Directors thanks Patti Gillenwater for her thoughtful and strategic approach.
