NC House Releases Budget Recommendations

Following up on the release of the Governor’s recommended spending priorities in March, the NC House has released their budget recommendations for the 2019-2021 biennium.

The House proposed increases in the NC Pre-K reimbursement rate, child care subsidy funds, Smart Start funding, and teacher, principal, assistant principal and other school staff salaries, though, on average, smaller increases than those proposed by the Governor. The House budget does not dedicate resources to closing the health insurance coverage gap, as recommended by the Governor.
