Support Summer Learning!

Whether your organization or collaborative provides books to children in your community or is considering doing so, our new guide, Summer Counts: A Guide to Support Summer Learning Through Book Givingis for you!

NCECF and Book Harvest of Durham teamed up to create this new guide focused on nine research-supported best practices in book giving. Book Harvest’s signature initiative, Books on Break, highlight these best practices in action.

The guide provides information about what supports parent want to help their children keep learning over the summer as well as resources to help improve, scale-up or start a book giving program. The guide also includes a case study about Forest View Elementary public school in Durham, where Books on Break has been operating for seven years.

We’re also sharing our webinar presentation and recording.  You’ll hear from NCECF, Book Harvest, an English language resource teacher from Forest View Elementary in Durham and a Books on Break parent.
