Does your organization provide books to children in your community? Are you considering a book giving strategy to support children’s summer learning? Then our new guide, Summer Counts: A Guide to Support Summer Learning Through Book Giving, can help!
NCECF and Book Harvest of Durham teamed up to create this new guide. With the skills and know-how of Book Harvest, the guide features nine research-supported best practices in book giving. Book Harvest’s signature initiative, Books on Break, highlights these best practices in action. The guide shares what supports parent want to help their children keep learning over the summer, and there are plenty of resources to help improve, scale-up or start a book giving program. The guide also includes a case study about Forest View Elementary public school in Durham, where Books on Break has been operating for seven years.
