NCECF Executive Director Susan Perry-Manning was the keynote speaker at today’s Wake County SmartStart Faith Breakfast. The event was co-chaired by Rabbi Lucy Dinner, Senior Rabbi at Temple Beth Or and Rev. Dr. Dumas A. Harshaw, Jr., Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church.
More than 50 faith leaders gathered to learn about early child development and discuss how the faith community can support young children and families.

We also have a new tool available for the faith community – The Faith Community and Early Childhood: Engaging Your Congregation. In 2013, faith leaders from across North Carolina came together to discuss the role places of
worship play in building a strong foundation for learning and health for their youngest congregants. This document includes the ideas generated during those discussions and provides a basic background on early child development. Topics include Faith Leaders, A Source of Strength for Families; Allowing All Children to Reach Their Potential; A Moral Challenge and Taking Action.
