Webinar Highlights Consensus on Pre-K as Part of Birth-through-Age-Eight Continuum

Is there agreement on the benefits of high quality prekindergarten? What’s the current state of scientific knowledge on the effects of prekindergarten? What does the research show are the outcomes for NC Pre-K? How does pre-k fit into the birth-through-age-eight continuum, and what does it mean for the years that come before and after?

These were some of the questions addressed by nationally recognized experts Ken Dodge and Lynne Vernon-Feagans on a webinar hosted by the North Carolina Early Childhood Foundation on Monday. Ken is the William McDougall Professor of Public Policy and Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at Duke University, and founder of the Center for Child and Family Policy. Lynne is the William C. Friday Distinguished Professor of Applied Developmental Science and Special Education and Professor of Psychology

The session was moderated by Susan Gates with SAS and Tracy Zimmerman with the North Carolina Early Childhood Foundation.
